Success Stories: The Farm to Pantry Project

As one of its first projects, the Rutherford County Food Council Steering Committee facilitated a farm to pantry effort during the 2021 season. They worked with Bob Young of Deer Valley Farm to grow, harvest, and distribute the farm’s entire harvest to local families in need via emergency food relief organizations in the county. The Council played a large role in helping to source funding for the project, connect with food banks and pantries, distribute food, and recruit volunteers. Over $11,000 worth of fresh produce was donated to food relief organizations in 2021!
